REID ATTENDS MEETING IN CAMPBELTOWN ABOUT FAILED SEWAGE SCHEME

The meeting was a follow up to Waterwatch’s highly critical report on Scottish Water’s performance in Campbeltown which was published in May 2009.
REID SEEKS ASSURANCES FROM MINISTRY OF DEFENCE FOLLOWING PRIVATISATION OF SEARCH & RESCUE SERVICES
Submitted by webmaster on Sun, 14/02/2010 - 14:00Following the Government’s announcement that Search & Rescue services are to be privatised, the number of helicopters reduced from 38 to 24 and the base moved from Prestwick to Glasgow Airport, Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute wrote to Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth seeking assurances about the future effectiveness of the service.

REID WELCOMES BOOST FOR REDUCED RURAL FUEL DUTY CAMPAIGN AFTER COMMONS DEBATE
Submitted by webmaster on Sun, 14/02/2010 - 13:00Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, welcomed the Treasury announcement that they would examine schemes operating in other European countries in which the duty is reduced on fuel sold at the pumps in remote rural areas.
The announcement of the investigation was made by Treasury Minister Sarah McCarthy-Fry following a debate on fuel duty in which Alan Reid had spoken.

“I welcome the £1 million Post Office diversification fund. Sub postmasters and postmistresses will be able to access this fund to expand and diversify their businesses. I know from talking to sub postmasters and postmistresses throughout Argyll & Bute, that they are keen to expand their businesses, but have experienced difficulties accessing the cash to enable them to so.
REID CALLS FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN SCOTLAND’S INLAND WATER RESCUE CAPABILITIES
