Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, spoke out in Parliament against the Government’s decision to freeze pension top-up payments for almost 9 million pensioners.

Mr Reid gave the example of a constituent whose pension increase this April will be less than half what it would have been if her pension had gone up in line with inflation.

Following the Government’s announcement that Search & Rescue services are to be privatised, Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, questioned the Under Secretary of State at the Scotland Office, Ann McKechin, in the House of Commons.

Speaking after the Council announced £10,000 worth of extra help for the Mid Argyll pool to fund any operating deficit, Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute said,

“£10,000 is obviously better than nothing, but, since the pool needs an extra £30,000 a year to break even, the Council must give them more later on this year.
