Geography

Covering a large mainland area and many inhabited islands on the west coast of Scotland, residents of the Constituency rely heavily on road transport and ferries for their livelihood and quality of life. The largest towns in the Scottish Parliamentary Constituency of Argyll & Bute are Dunoon, Oban, Rothesay and Campbeltown, with the Isles of Islay and Mull each supporting populations of over 2000. At the 2005 General Election, Helensburgh and Lomond joined with the rest of Argyll & Bute to form the Argyll & Bute County Constituency for the UK Parliament at Westminster.
